Greenwich Arts Academy is an official Family Safety Plan School.

We are an Official Family Safety Plan Music School!

In order to keep our students, staff, and teachers safe, we have implemented the Family Safety Plan in our school! This includes glass windows on lesson rooms to foster transparency between teachers and parents, full-time office staff so that students and teachers are never left unsupervised, requiring extensive background checks of all of our teachers and staff, security cameras in all rooms, and an open-door policy for parents, which means that they’re always invited to sit in on their child’s lessons. Visit our testimonial page to see what our students are saying. Every year, aspiring music teachers start their own studio, and a year or two later it's closed. The Academy has a proven track record of offering quality music, piano, voice, singing, guitar, bass, ukulele, drums, flute, saxophone, songwriting, GarageBand, and audition prep lessons (as well as toddler and pre-k classes) in Lower Fairfield County, Connecticut year-round. Our full-time mission is teaching music lessons trusted by over 1,000 families, first in California from 1992-2003, then in and around Greenwich for over fifteen years.

5. A comfortable parent's lounge for our clients.

With over 1,000 square feet, our atrium is the most spacious and parent-friendly waiting area in the Stamford and Greenwich area. Instead of waiting in a music retail store showroom, our clients enjoy a spacious, professional parents' lounge with comfortable chairs, kids' toys, Wi-Fi, magazines and bottled water service. We also provide large observation windows on every door so that you can watch your child's lesson while you wait. Or if you prefer you can sit in on their lesson anytime you like.

6. The most technologically advanced music lessons in Greenwich!

Technology is a big part of lessons at the Greenwich Arts Academy. This allows students to have a modern and engaging lesson using music teaching apps, music software, Skype, Zoom, and more. Feel free to "Bring Your Own Device" to your lesson in addition to your instrument!

One of the things that has really set us apart is our focus on providing lessons that are fresh, new, and engaging. There are so many great teaching apps out there now that we felt we had to update our curricula to incorporate them where appropriate. By doing so, our students never run the risk of being bored by their lessons. It's a challenge to engage children or adults, but by integrating technology such as teaching apps from the iTunes store, GarageBand, ProTools, you name it, we're providing a cutting-edge lesson experience in the Greenwich area.

6. The most technologically advanced and fully-stocked music lesson rooms in the Greenwich area!

Our rooms are stocked with everything you need for music lessons, including amps, stereos, full drum kits with pads, keyboards, pianos and more. All you need to bring is your instrument. We have spent thousands of dollars on our studio to offer soundproofing and large observation windows.

Technology is a big part of lessons at the Greenwich Arts Academy, and we have installed LED monitors with Mac Minis in every lesson room. The monitors have cables that can attach to iPods, iPads, laptops, etc. This allows students to have a modern and engaging lesson using music teaching apps, music software, Skype, Zoom, Muzie, and more. Feel free to "Bring Your Own Device" to your lesson in addition to your instrument! No other school in Lower Fairfield County offers this level of technology.

7. Music recitals in beautiful local venues.

We are one of the only music schools in Greenwich that offers biannual recitals with a grand Steinway or Yamaha piano in first-class venues.

Every parent just wants to know how their child is doing and if they are really progressing. The best way for a parent to understand if their investment in lessons is really worth it, is to have their child participate in a recital.

In June and December many of our students choose to perform in our biannual recitals. We hold these in lovely spaces with world class acoustics, such as the First Congregational Church in Stamford or St. Paul Lutheran in Westport.

Athena performs "Come Out and Play" at our Concert in January, 2019

For your child, the Greenwich Arts Academy recital experience will be low-stress and high-reward. Many music schools don't adequately rehearse their students, leaving  them prone to stage-fright and the kinds of bad experiences some of us remember from when we were kids. Our students prepare for four to six weeks -- when it's their turn to play, they're ready, and steady. In fact, our recitals are so well-rehearsed and our young and not-so-young performers so professional, that we don't even call our shows "recitals"... they're concerts.

Unlike many schools in Greenwich we do not charge admission or sell tickets to our concerts -- there is only a small participation fee per student. You are encouraged to bring your family and friends to the show for free to share in the fun!

8. Audition Preparation Services.

One of the benefits of living in Fairfield and Westchester Counties is the proximity to great arts programs. It also means that standards are high and competition is fierce. Whether you are auditioning for the middle- or high-school musical, for any of the many excellent local or regional theater groups, or competing to get into an excellent conservatory or university music program, being cool and well-prepared is key. We are proud to offer this vital service to performers of all backgrounds in the Greenwich area.

9. Trophies, certificates and award wristbands to celebrate achievement.

We are the only music school in Greenwich that gives its students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids  and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical  tests.

Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool “Musical Ladder®” wristbands and trophies that they can show off to their friends. The Musical Ladder® is a unique method of music education and Greenwich Arts Academy is one of the few schools on the East Coast that offers it.

More importantly, when our students have a test coming up, they practice more, their parents are proud, their teachers are proud, and everybody wins. You can only get the Musical Ladder® here. We also specialize in music lessons for adults.

10. GarageBand and Songwriting lessons.

Greenwich Arts Academy is the only music school in Greenwich offering training on GarageBand, which is included free with most Apple desktop and laptop computers. Does your child sit in front of the computer stringing loops together, then wondering what to do next?C'mon, we all know it happens -- the daughter of the director of the Academy was creating and recording her own songs when she was five! (That's her working in Mr Michael's studio, by the way.)

We can help your child take that budding creative streak and give it focus. Some of our students study composition; some study songwriting, or beat-creation, or improvisation. The results speak for themselves.

11. Early morning and lunchtime lessons for home-schoolers, retirees, college students and working professionals.

Since we are one of the largest music schools in the state of Connecticut, we are able to be a 'full service' music school. This allows us to offer lessons as early as 8 a.m. and we see many students between the hours of 11 a.m.-2 p.m. If you are a home school parent, retiree, college student or working professional who has a flexible schedule, take advantage of our early morning and lunch time lesson spots.

12. Picture Day.

We are the only music school in the Greenwich area that offers a picture day for their students.

Every Spring and Fall we host a free picture day with a professional photographer. This is a service that our students' parents love as they all want quality photos of their children. Adults are welcome too! Students can bring their instruments to the photo shoot and wear whatever they like.

Meet the Director

The  ability to play an instrument or sing beautifully offers a lifetime of benefits. Music lessons also foster a student’s personal, social, and academic development. The Greenwich Arts Academy has made substantial investments in our methods and faculty to provide an uplifting environment designed to foster creativity, confidence and joy.

If you’ve been told you are tone deaf or uncoordinated, I’m here to inform you that everyone can improve their musical skills. As a musician, songwriter and music professor, I've witnessed thousands of students transform their lives in ways they never imagined possible. We make it our mission to help Greenwich area students explore and develop their talents, wherever their curiosity and interests lead them.
