One of the benefits of living in Fairfield and Westchester counties is the proximity to great arts programs. It also means that standards are high and competition is fierce. Whether you are auditioning for the middle- or high-school musical, for any of the many excellent local or regional theater groups, or competing to get into an outstanding conservatory or university arts program, being cool and well-prepared is key.
Successful auditions depend on a variety of factors, many of which are out of your control -- who else shows up, what the casting director had for lunch (and now regrets eating), where your name appears on the list, and a host of other variables. The only element directly under your control is your preparation... and it has to be better, deeper, and more thorough than the competition's.
Greenwich Arts Academy is proud to offer these unique and vital preparation services to our students. Available to members seven and up.
When you enroll at Greenwich Arts Academy, we'll begin with an evaluation to determine initially what your strengths and challenges are. We work with each individual or parent to craft a lesson plan that fits the student's unique needs and goals. Whether you're a seven year old trying out for your first shows, or a fifty year old returning to the stage after many years, our friendly, dedicated teachers will share their passion for live performance and help you develop goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

From material selection and editing, to vocal coaching and performance, Greenwich Arts Academy's experts will work with you to make your presentation as tight and impactful as it can possibly be.
Whether you're singing in front of a Broadway casting director or your High School Theater director, you will generally not be able to perform an entire song -- so the time spent editing the material and honing the expression and gestures is critical to your success.
The song for musical auditions should showcase the style and vocal range of the character you're trying to get cast for. Your coach will help you develop a repertoire that can be used at a moment's notice -- because sometimes that's all the warning you get!
Need a little help with your pitch, intonation, or support? Private vocal training sessions are available for beginners, advanced, and professional levels.

If you have a speech or monologue you'd like some feedback on, please don't hesitate to ask. We have consulting experts available with extensive stage acting experience who can work with you to hone your presentation.
This is especially beneficial for actors who are trying out for dramatic or "legit" roles, as these types of auditions require a different skill set than comedic or musical performances.
During these sessions, we will work on perfecting your delivery, finding the right emotional beats and connecting with your character. Our experts can also provide tips on how to make the most impact in a short amount of time and stand out among other performers.
Don't wait until the last minute to rehearse for an important tryout – let us help you develop a repertoire that will impress casting directors and make you feel like a star in any performance setting.
Greenwich Arts Academy's consultants can help you smooth what needs smoothing and amp up what needs to be more aggressive. The result will be a memorable reading that makes the casting table sit up and take notice!
(2-hour minimum)
Bring us your prospective school's list of approved audition pieces, and our experts will help you select just the right repertoire to show off your strengths.
If you've already chosen your material (or had it chosen for you), we'll analyze your presentation from a jury's point of view and help you make it the best it can be.
(2-hour minimum)
Haven't performed much? Does the idea of being onstage frighten you? At the Academy, we have many years of experience helping young (and older) performers process and move beyond performance anxiety.
"Butterflies" are normal -- even an experienced star will tell you that they not only still get that "keyed-up" feeling while waiting to go onstage, but that it's essential to a good performance. "Stage fright," though, is a misinterpretation of threat and can be redirected into healthier pathways.
(Sessions arranged on an hourly basis)
Wouldn't it be great to be able to take your show's music director home with you for individualized rehearsal? Or to have the actor with whom you have to sing a complicated duet join you to practice?
Impossible dream? Not anymore! We have coaches at the Academy with years of theater experience. They'll run those numbers with you as often as necessary. Private rehearsal sessions allow for individualized practice without the pressure of a full cast, all of them waiting for the director's attention.
(2-hour minimum)
It is preferable, whenever possible, to have your own accompanist play at your tryout. You've rehearsed with them; you've worked to develop your presentation; you've established rapport; they know the music.
Remember, the hired-gun accompanist at the audition is probably sight-reading and will not have the opportunity to practice with you before you perform!
