Our sax teachers teach a wide variety of music genres, from pop to jazz and of course improvisation or "jamming"! Our students spend time each week working on technical skills to improve their sound quality and intonation, but also work with their teacher to incorporate their favorite songs into the lessons so they finish with their favorite piece. GAA's sax teachers, through their care and expertise, will certainly nurture any student's love of the saxophone.
Our saxophone instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student's favorite type of music.
Whether you're playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first saxophone lessons, or a fifty year old returning to the sax after many years, we'll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.
It's important to note: private lessons focus on improving technical skills and artistic expression in students -- engaging repertoire and diverse music styles are essential components of private music lessons. At Greenwich Arts Academy, we always keep these essentials foremost in our planning for your music lessons.
We teach all styles from rock and pop to jazz, country, and blues. Music lessons are highly customizable -- your teacher will work with you to find out what musical genres or styles are your favorites.
Then it's simply a question of feeling free to explore, starting from the simpler styles of music (which doesn't always mean "easy," of course) and working right on up to the more advanced. Saxophone is a phenomenally versatile musical instrument -- our instructors are ready and waiting to get you started!
Our sax faculty have received their education from prestigious institutions such as University of California at Berkeley (music dept), Berklee College of Music, Music For The Media, and University of California at Los Angeles (music dept). Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the US and Europe and have over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience.
In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level. This ensures that your music lessons are exactly tailored both to your own individual learning style and to how you personally "hear" music -- students benefit most from a customized approach to music instruction.
Our instructors challenge our students with wide-ranging technical exercises designed to improve speed and comfort. Saxophone lessons incorporate breathing exercises and music theory in instruction. Improv and "jamming" can be complex, and learning to be free and easy while also being spontaneous requires practice and patience.
Our saxophone instructors provide live feedback on students' techniques during lessons -- this hones their skills as they learn. And of course, students can bring in their favorite sax solos to learn in their lessons.
For your convenience, students can use one of our school instruments at their first lesson. But to practice at home, you will need a sax. Your instructor will recommend an appropriate model and offer guidance on where to rent or purchase.

Absolutely! Every Fall and Spring, our young performers have the opportunity to present in first-class venues. Unlike most of our competitors, we only charge a small participation fee per student, and we never make parents pay for tickets. Admission is free, so you can invite all your family and friends.
Sign up is easy and parent-friendly, with a kind, helpful person to answer the phone seven days a week. We are here to serve you. Because we only offer music lessons on a month-to-month basis, there are no large upfront payments, no complicated contracts, no annual material fees, and no semester minimums.
