Our guitar instructors teach rock, blues, metal, country and classical styles on both electric and acoustic guitars. Beginners work on chords, simple songs and melodies, and sight reading. Each lesson will challenge you with a new technique or music theory, and ends with something fun – such as your favorite riff or song.
We employ a variety of guitar method books based on student needs and preferences, and encourage members to bring smartphones or CDs to their sessions to learn their favorite tunes.
Our guitar instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student's favorite type of music. Out teachers also introduce music theory -- which shouldn't scare you; it makes the music you're working on more "transparent."
Whether you're playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the guitar after many years, we’ll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.
Sessions can be scheduled flexibly to accommodate members' needs. (Flexible scheduling plans make music lessons easy.) Personalized music lessons can be offered either in-studio or online.
We teach all styles, from rock, pop, jazz, and blues to metal, country and classical guitar – on electric and acoustic guitars.
Our guitar faculty have received their education from prestigious institutions such as University of California at Berkeley (music dept), Berklee College of Music, Music For The Media, and University of California at Los Angeles (music dept). Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the US and Europe and have over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience. Instructors have experience in teaching students of all ages.
All of our guitar teachers also play piano, which is a huge advantage when explaining how (and why) chords move from one to the next. They also typically rock drums, which is useful for learning rhythm guitar patterns. Music instructors have unique teaching styles and musical philosophies -- which is an advantage for you when you have the opportunity to work with more than one teacher.
Beginner guitarists can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and music theory. Our instructors balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson presents a new technical challenges or music theory concept, and ends with something fun, such as your favorite riff or song.
We use a variety of guitar method books, and encourage members to bring their smartphone or CDs to their lesson to learn their favorite tunes.
If you're up for a challenge, why not add voice instruction to your week? With a bit of voice training, you can sing along with your guitar!
The Academy offers acoustic and electric guitars for student sessions (for your convenience, members can use one of ours at their first lesson). But to practice at home, you will need a guitar. We are not an instrument retailer -- your guitar teacher will guide you to a variety of instruments appropriate for beginners, starting at just $89.00.
